Case Study

Well-known show horse producer, Jerome Harforth has been using Collovet since his veterinary surgeon recommended the product back in the 1980s. He says it acts as an excellent ‘pick-me-up’ for horses, as well as being an effective aid for depressed appetite.

Liquid tonic
Competition horses at Jerome’s Stanley Grange Stud near Middlesbrough are given, where recommended, a 10-day course of Collovet at the start of the season. The liquid tonic may also be administered throughout the year, to any horse that has been under stress caused by illness, or even after a prolonged succession of shows and travel.

Effective aid
“There is no doubt in my mind that Collovet gives horses a boost,” says Jerome. “When I use it to stimulate a horse’s appetite, I may need to give it by syringe initially. However once they have tasted it, they generally find it very palatable, and I can then add supplement to the feed.”

Show successes
The award winning stock that has been bred and produced at Stanley Grange includes:
Colbeach Starlight Express – Hack of the Year at the Horse of the Year Show
Gosh (ex-racehorse) – Riding Horse of the Year
Rotherwood Take a Peep – Show Pony of the Year & won the Cuddy Final

Exports
Stanley Grange Stud, which was formed in 1975, has a well-deserved reputation for breeding and producing top quality horses in both led and ridden classes. They range from Mountain and Moorland, to ponies, hacks and hunters. A number of animals have been exported to Australia, Europe and America, where they have been exhibited on the show circuit with tremendous success.
